How fast is 4G LTE on Virgin Mobile?
Virgin Mobile USA operates on Sprint's 3G and 4G (WiMax) and 4G LTE networks. Sprint was the first major domestic wireless carrier to deploy 4G, and is now supplementing its networks from 4G (WiMax) to LTE. When in a 4G LTE coverage area, customers may realize average download speeds of 6-8 Mbps, upload speeds of 2-3 Mbps and peak speeds of 25 Mbps.

What does it mean for most customers with a 4G-LTE-capable device?

What if I'm using my LTE device in a market where LTE is not available?
These 4G LTE devices represent the latest in technology advancements for our customers including the latest processors, displays and operating systems. They are capable of leveraging the improved capability of enhancements on Sprint's 3G network which is also being improved across the country, tower by tower, to provide better service than ever. Customers can expect to experience stronger signals, fewer dropped calls and more with expanded 3G service. Our new frequency also will allow us to bring that stronger signal indoors. It means a more reliable data connection with faster download speeds and quicker access to email, surfing, streaming and more. These devices will provide 4G LTE service when you travel to Sprint LTE-enabled markets and coverage areas.
Will 4G LTE on Virgin Mobile be subject to current data speed reduction policies?
To ensure all customers have reliable access to data services, 4G LTE data use will also fall under these policies on Virgin Mobile. 4G LTE device customers will have unlimited data access, with a monthly high-speed 3G/4G allotment of 2.5 GB of data. Adaptive protocol video data speeds are limited to 600 Kbps. Once the 2.5 GB monthly allotment is reached, data speeds (including video) will be limited to slower 3G speeds for the remainder of the plan cycle. Total combined data use on both networks (3G and 4G, if applicable) count toward this allotment.
