VM: What, if any ringtones or ringback tones do you currently have set up on your phone?
Rick: B.M.F. - Because it's the summer banga for 2010. Hands down...chosen by the people.
VM: You're just days away from releasing the new album Teflon Don! What about this latest release is most exciting for you? Is there anything in particular you hope fans take away from the album?
Rick: I'd say the support of artists like Jay, Kanye, Diddy, Badu, Drake etc that showed love by creating great quality records with me. They all came hard, very hard and I think the people will respond to that.
VM: Tell us a little about your album, Teflon Don. What are some of your favorite tracks on this album?
Rick: No doubt "Free Mason", "Live Fast, Die Young", "B.M.F", "MC Hammer" but the one that really sticks out to me, personally, is "Tears Of Joy" w/Cee-Lo - I put some things out there that are very close to my heart. No I.D. on the beat and Cee-lo were absolute blessings.
VM: This album features some of the most talented artists like Jay-Z, Kanye, Diddy, Drake, etc... How did you come about to choosing which artists you wanted contributing to this album? Was there anyone in particular that you enjoyed working with?
Rick: I enjoyed my time with all of them to the fullest! The most important thing to me was selecting the best songs & song concepts. It's about the music or business first, then friendships.
VM: Teflon Don is your 4th album! What do you think has changed the most in the way you approach music since your first album? And what has remained constant?
Rick: I don't feel like I have to prove anything to anyone now... The streets know what it is and who's who. My vision, writing and drive have remained the same.
VM: The name Rick Ro$$ has a dollar signs. Is there some sort of meaning behind that?
Rick: Money & success go hand in hand. I appreciate the non-material things in life, but those dollar signs symbolize the mission - success and belief in yourself.
VM: Nowadays, it seems like rappers are going beyond the horizon of just music by launching their own fashion line, acting, etc... Are you working on anything that isn't music related?
Rick: Best believe there are several large Irons in the fire! There are a lot of products & opportunities that are associated with my lifestyle; you will feel the impact of my other ventures very soon.
VM: Well, we are just about done here and we wish you the best of luck with the new album! Do you have any last words you want to end with for Virgin Mobile fans?
Rick: Thank you for the support, let's show the world that real hip hop is alive & well. Stay true to yourself and never, ever give up on your dreams. Let's get this money together!
