  • How does Virgin Mobile Phone Insurance work?

Without insurance, you could get stuck paying full price to replace your phone if something goes wrong. So Virgin Mobile has partnered with Asurion to make Phone Insurance available to our customers. For just $5/month you'll be covered if your phone breaks or is lost, stolen, or damaged - even with liquid.

    Here's how it works:

    - Sign up for Phone Insurance within 15 days of activating your phone on a Beyond Talk Plan.
    - The $5 premium will be deducted from your Virgin Mobile account each month.
    - If something happens to your phone, file a claim online or over the phone.
    - As long as your claim is approved and you pay the deductible, you'll typically receive a replacement phone within 24 hours.

  • How can I install an application I downloaded from my pc to my device?

To enable the manual installation of an application, you must first enable applications from unknown sources (see the How do I install applications that are not in the Play Store? FAQ). Next, you must make sure that the installer is an .apk file, as this is the only file type that can be installed on the Android OS.

After you have downloaded the installation file to your computer, use the micro USB cable to connect the device to your computer. When prompted, choose Disk drive as the connection type on your device. On your computer, go to the newly mounted Removable Disk and then copy the file to the microSD card. Once the transfer is finished, disconnect your device from your computer.

In order for you to be able to access the file and install it on your device, you will need a file manager application installed. From the Home screen, tap the All apps button, tap Play Store and search for the keyword "file manager." Locate and download a file manager application.

Using your file manager, open the folder where you copied the file. Tap the installation file then tap Install. Once the application is installed, it will be available in your All apps menu.

  • What exactly is Android™?

Android™ is your phone’s operating system (OS). Whenever you make a call or send a text or launch an app, Android™ is behind how it looks and how it works.

Android™ is currently the world’s most popular mobile OS. Why? Because it’s totally sweet. It’s intuitive. It’s powerful. And it supports over 500,000 unique apps that anyone with an Android™ phone can download directly from Google Play™.

  • Where can I get apps?

Google Play™ is the Android™ store and it’s available online at http://play.google.com. Your Android™ phone will include a direct link to Google Play™. With over 500,000 apps, plus music, movies, games and books, it’s safe to say that it just might blow your mind.

  • How do I know which Android™ apps I should get?

That’s the fun part. With over 500,000 apps available and new ones being added every day, you’re sure to find plenty of options.

We’ve collected some of our favorites in the Hot Apps featured on the Features tab of our Android™ phones. From handy apps to help you remember where you parked your car, to music streaming apps, even to apps you can use to order a pizza while you zone out on the couch, the best advice is to just keep exploring. You never know what will pop up next.

  • How much more do I have to pay to use Android™ every month?

That’s the best part! With our Beyond Talk Unlimited Data & Messaging Plans, all of your data, web, messaging and email is totally unlimited. So whatever plan you choose, you never have to worry about putting all those apps to work. Never. Not Ever. Like, really. NEVER.

  • I see different kinds of Android for different phones. What does this mean?

Like all software, Android™ developers are constantly working to update what it can do. When you see Android™ 2.2 versus Android™ 2.3, that just means that Android™ 2.3 is the next generation of software in the Android™ series. For the most part, the basics of the software stay the same. Newer generations sometimes feature somewhat heightened capabilities, or new features, or revisions to improve speed and performance.
