  • How does Virgin Mobile Phone Insurance work?

Without insurance, you could get stuck paying full price to replace your phone if something goes wrong. So Virgin Mobile has partnered with Asurion to make Phone Insurance available to our customers. For just $5/month you'll be covered if your phone breaks or is lost, stolen, or damaged - even with liquid.

    Here's how it works:
    - Sign up for Phone Insurance within 15 days of activating your phone on a Beyond Talk Plan.
    - The $5 premium will be deducted from your Virgin Mobile account each month.
    - If something happens to your phone, file a claim online or over the phone.
    - As long as your claim is approved and you pay the deductible, you'll typically receive a replacement phone within 24 hours.

  • What is Market?

Market is the application that provides access to the Android Market. Market offers both Free and Paid applications for Android users. When downloading content from Market, be aware that the applications offered have not been tested by HTC nor Virgin Mobile and that all Market Application Support is the responsibility of the Developer of that application; Not HTC or Virgin Mobile. To access Market, you will need an active Google account set up on the device, and then from the Home Screen, select the All Applications tab>Market.

  • What is Transfer?

Transfer is an HTC application that assists you with transferring contact, SMS messages and calendar events from an old phone to your HTC phone. This transfer is done via Bluetooth and has been proven to work with devices from Apple, Blackberry, HTC, LG, Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, and Sony Ericsson although it may work with other devices from other manufacturers. To access Transfer from the Home screen, go to All apps>Transfer.

  • Where can I find more information about Android, Market and Google applications for Android?

For more information about Android and Google applications please visit to http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/topic.py?hl=en&topic=13588

  • What is Virgin Mobile Live and what do I need to use it?

Virgin Mobile Live allows you to stream music, videos, read the Virgin Mobile Live blog, look up events all from within the app. To launch the app tap the All Applications button from your Home screen and tap the Virgin Mobile Live app to launch.

Note: This application uses a large amount of data.

  • What file types are supported by the Music Player on my device?

Your device can support the following audio file types: aac, amr, ogg, m4a, mid, mp3, wav, and wma.

  • What software do I need to synchronize my device with my PC?

HTC Sync allows synchronization between a device and PC. You can find the latest version of HTC Sync, instructions, and drivers in the Downloads tab in the Support website for your device.

Note: Once HTC Sync is set up, you can choose to synchronize Calendar and Contacts (People) from Outlook, or copy over Music, Pictures (Gallery), Bookmarks or Documents.

Note 2: If your device is not recognized by HTC Sync, make sure to select HTC Sync from the USB connection type menu.

  • I want to sync my device with my Mac; am I able to use HTC Sync to do this?

HTC Sync is not compatible with Macintosh computers. While you will be unable to use HTC Sync to synchronize your PIM information, you can transfer files such as music, movies, photos, etc. by mounting your device as a Disk drive.

  • What does a Hard Reset do and how is it performed?

A Hard reset restores the original factory settings and will erase all downloaded content, including ringtones, contacts stored in the handset memory, etc. It does not by default erase data stored on the memory card (though these items can be checked). Back up all necessary data on the device memory before proceeding.

From the Home screen, go to Menu>Settings>SD & Phone Storage>Factory data reset. Tap Reset phone, and then tap Erase everything.

Note: Make sure the Erase SD card box is left unchecked unless you wish to have the contents of your SD card deleted.

If your phone is generally unresponsive, you can perform a hard reset using a series of hardware keys. With the phone turned off, press and hold the Volume Down button, and then briefly press the Power button.

Wait for the screen with the 3 Android images to appear, and then release the Volume Down button.

Press Volume Down to select Clear Storage, and then press the Power button.

Note: If the device boots directly to the Home screen even while holding down the Volume Down button, turn off the Fast Boot feature by going to Menu>Settings>Power and unchecking Fast boot. Power the device off and try the process again.

  • What is a Soft Reset and how is it performed?

A soft reset clears the memory on the handheld. This recovers the device from memory conflicts, corrupted system service chains, memory leaks, and system lockups due to the "Fatal Exception" program errors.

To perform a Soft Reset, first power the device Off. Remove the battery for 10 seconds. Re-insert the battery and power the device on.

  • My Battery doesn't stay charged for very long. What can I do to conserve power?

There are different features such as watching YouTube, listening to music, programs running in the background, using Wi-Fi and Bluetooth®, constantly synchronizing e-mail that can drain the battery quickly.

To improve battery life, refer to the following information:
When your device is not in use, press the Power button to switch off the screen. You can also select a shorter Screen timeout interval before the phone screen switches off and you can also lower the screen brightness.

To do this from the Home screen, go to Menu>Settings>Display and then change your Brightness and Screen timeout settings.

Use the AC adapter to plug your device into an external power outlet whenever possible.

Turn Bluetooth and Wi-Fi off when you are not using it. To do this from the Home screen, go to Menu >Settings>Wireless & Networks and uncheck Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

Turn off your phone connection to GPS satellites when not in use. To do this from the Home screen, go to Menu>Settings>Location then uncheck Use GPS Satellites.

Note: For quicker access to enable/disable Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, etc., touch and hold on the Home Screen, select Widget and then select Power Control. This will add a Widget to your home screen to enable/disable these settings.

Note 2: Your device has Android 2.3.4 (Gingerbread) and you can also access these settings quickly by dragging down the notification bar and selecting the Quick Settings tab.

Finally, make sure to close battery-intensive programs, such as the Camera, when you are done using them.
